On display beginning 5 June at Grey Gallery
Seven members of the Botanical Artists of Canada will have their work on display at Grey Gallery during June:
Gerard Brender à Brandis
Scientific botanical illustration is a genre that blends art and science in order to depict both the beauty and the essential form and structure of plants, such that they can be reliably identified. With a long history going back to the early herbals, and progressing through the golden age of flower painting by artists such as Redouté, contemporary botanical illustration is increasingly popular around the world. Last year's exhibition The Art of the Plant, held at the Canadian Museum of Nature brought this spectacular artform to a wider audience. Visit Grey Gallery in June to see for yourself.
