Grey Gallery has a love for works on paper, from drawings to contemporary and vintage prints to postcards. We also carry a range of Japanese papers for artists and crafters.
We set aside a small area of Grey Gallery every month to showcase the work of local artists who use Japanese papers in their practice. Whether it be bookbnding, or collage or painting, drawing or printmaking the results when using the high quality papers sourced from the Japanese Paper Place are always outstanding. Paul Hunter of Mammoth Hall Press is known for his printmaking but these paintings on heritage washi are absolutely incredible. If you are interested in showing work please get in touch.
Gerard Brender à Brandis began his career as an artist specializing in wood engraving in 1965, and is a master of his craft. His engravings are based on his own sketches of subjects from nature, including landscapes, old buildings and still life. Some hand-coloured examples are also available. Every engraving is hand-printed on quality paper.
All of you who love paper in all its manifestations will appreciate these chromolithographed and embossed sheets of decals (often referred to also as scraps), dating back to the 1950s. These are the real deal, not reproductions, and were painstakingly designed and printed in Germany. Perfect for all types of collage, or even as a framed piece of artwork. Full sheets are $15.00 and we also have smaller envelopes of partial sheets and singles.
